Central Park Zoo []
The central horticultural feature of the original zoo was retained and restored. A trellised, glass-covered arcade surrounds this garden and connects to the three major exhibit areas. The new buildings were kept low and masked by vines. The redesign is based on the safari zoo concept, and the animals live in environments that duplicate their natural habitats as closely as possible.
